2003 World Showcase
Pannell, J. J.- This was our 2nd or 3rd look at Pannell. He always shows a very quick arm with MLB average to plus velocity. He’s not the biggest guy out there, but make no mistake, he’s got an outstanding arm and can pitch. His fastball has some good life in the 89-91 range. He appears to have excellant command of the heater. At the World Showcase, his breaking ball was in the 72-73 MPH range, and not quite as sharp as we have seen before. It still has the potential to be a plus pitch at the next level. Pannell signed early with George Mason and if he ends up there, he’s going to win a lot of games for them from the start.
