Jimmy Cheak is a 2009 LHP/OF/1B with a 5'11'', 180 lb. frame from Geneseo IL, who attends Geneseo HS. He has a solid build with lower half strength and a young face. Cheak throws from a stiff rock back delivery with an exaggerated high front side that throws his balance completely off. It looks like something he has been taught and is doing intentionally and it isn't helping his pitching ability at all. Cheak's fastball was 75-77 mph and mostly straight. He didn't throw many curveballs or change ups and concentrated on throwing strikes with his fastball. He is likely to improve quickly with some mechanical adjustments. Cheak showed some raw bat speed but suffered from some of the same balance problems hitting as he did pitching. Cheak is a good student off the field.
