2004 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
IF Eric Worden: Worden is a quality athlete who hasn’t received the publicity of some of his Iowa peers in the 2004 class. In fact, he hasn’t signed with either a 4-year or JC yet and he could play at either level of competition. Worden has a solidly built 5-11, 180 lb. frame that has some present strength to it. He took one of the best batting practices of the Showcase, driving the ball consistently hard and even showing some good loft power. Worden has the bat speed and hand strength to swing the wood bat and he also hit well during the Spring League season. Defensively, Worden has very smooth actions at third base and is the type of athlete who could play all over the field and do a good job with the glove. His arm strength is solid and his athleticism enables him to get rid of the ball quickly with accuracy. Worden is also a 6.89 runner. Overall, he was one of the pleasant surprises of the Showcase and has a bright future at the next level.
