Ruiz is an infielder that we saw do a lot of good things. He can run well, being clocked at 6.88 in the 60, he hits good for his age (2005 grad) and size and he has the fielding actions indicative of a second baseman. His arm strength needs to improve, but the rest of his game came to play. He hit to opposite field and runs the bases well. He did not show the type of bat-speed you see with a big power hitter, but his singles get through the infield holes quick. We also saw him on the mound and he did well showing better arm stength between 76-80 mph. He preferred using off-speed pitches and keeping consistent with finding a way to win rather than trying to overpower the other team. He is a good player with energy and the team concept. And he has a year to develop before he finishes his Junior year in High School. Good student.
