2004 Underclass National Showcase
Greg Marrone -- Marrone is a medium built 6-1 right hander from Michigan with lots of projection and present day arm strength as a right handed pitcher. He had some blister concerns in Fort Myers but worked through them and was able to showcase his ability. Marrone threw in the 84-86 mph range with his fastball and shows good command down in the strike zone. He throws a curveball in the 71-73 mph range that has a shorter slider-like break to it and he’ll also mix in a 73 mph change up that has some good action to it. Marrone is smooth with an even tempo from the windup and looks like he’s in complete command, but he throws with a bit more effort from the stretch. Marrone is a good athlete overall and swings a strong bat. Greg is a good student and he's a very interesting prospect to follow for 2005.
