2007 South Top Prospect Showcase
Ryan Westbrook is a 2008 SS/P with a 6'0'', 160 lb. frame from Lufkin, TX who attends Hudson. Ryan was solid defensively with soft hands and quick feet. He has a quick transfer and showed good range to the hole and up the middle with a strong and accurate arm. During the workout he had a top velocity of 84 mph across the infield. He has a thin and athletic build with plenty of room to go. At the plate he gets good extenstion and has pop in his bat with a line drive swing path. He puts the ball in play, and hustles out of the box. Ryan is solid from the mound also, throwing from an over the top arm slot with an arm that works well. He has sound mechanics with arm speed and does a good job working the outer half of the plate. His curveball has late break, and he maintains arm slot arm speed. He displays a good understanding of pitching and has good command. He was named a top prospect at this event. Ryan is a good student.
