Jerad Barth is a 2009 SS/MIF with a 6'0'', 160 lb. frame from Sioux City, IA who attends Sioux City East HS. He has a lean, projectable build and athletic actions. Barth moved smoothly in the infield and showed quick feet and smooth hands. He tended to lay back on balls during the games, maybe a product of lack of experience, but had a good idea how to play the infield and should continue to develop. Offensively, Barth hits from an open stance with a pre-loaded swing and a fairly quick, line drive swing. He used the whole field well and stayed inside the ball. He should continue to develop his bat speed as he gets stronger. Barth ran the 60 in 7.33. He's young and projectable and should be followed. He is also a very good student.
