Hiram Burgos is a 2005 right handed pitcher from Cayey, Puerto Rico, with a 6'2", 185 lb. frame. Burgos has a lean and projectable body, and throws with no effort. His fastball topped out at 87 mph and he worked in the 82-86 mph range. Burgos has a good curveball with tight rotation at 70-74 mph. He also mixes in a change up at 68-69 mph with good sink. Burgos throws strikes and showed solid control of all three of his pitches. He keeps the ball down and gets many groundball outs. Burgos is also very aware defensively and has good baseball knowledge. He's also a good student.
