2007 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Mark Nales is a 2009 MIF/3B/P with a 6'1'', 155 lb. frame from Pelham, NC who attends Bartley Yancey HS. He has a lean and slender build that should be able to carry some more strength. Nales ran the 60 in 7.42 and threw 80 mph during infield drills. He showed good footwork and some ability to move to the ball in the middle infield and has developing arm strength across the diamond. He's still developing confidence in his hands fielding the ball. Nales hits from an open stance with a pre load approach. Duriing batting practice he showed some hand quickness and made solid midfield contact with a line drive swing plane. During games, Nales consistently bailed out and could not duplicate his swing plane or bat speed. He has some hitting tools to work with but needs work on his game approach. Nales also took a turn on the mound and threw 76-78 mph with good downhill plane from a high 3/4's release point. He only threw fastballs. Nales is an outstanding student.
