Samuel Finn is a 2026 1B/LHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Naperville, IL, who attends Plainfield North. A taller frame with a bigger build and thickness. Sturdy build. Room to keep filling out moving forward. Ran a 7.75 60-yard dash. He was a left-handed pitcher who used his strength in the lower half as part of the delivery and moved down the slope. He worked with a leg lift up above the belt, pitching from a three-quarters arm slot. He had a clue for the actions. Fastball worked 80-83 mph with some occasional cut to it. He located to the glove side well, too, establishing the zone. The heater had some downhill angle and worked well pitching east to west. The slider was in the low 70s with a harder, sweeper shape. He also showed a breaker around 70 mph with a 1-7 shaped breaker, showing a good feel for the pitch. He gets whiffs overall and pieced together a great outing on the mound. Also worked out as a position player. A left-handed hitter with an upright stance and slightly open feet in a medium base. He had a higher back elbow and higher-set hands. He used a smaller toe tap trigger with some length through the zone. He's rotational through contact with some extension as well. Used an all-field approach through his round of BP swings. Also worked out as a first baseman who works through the ball well. He had good arm strength with accuracy around the bag & clean feeds to second base, Two-handed fielding, and some whip on the throws with a good release. Throws at 78 mph across the diamond. Great student. Named to 2024 Chicago Indoor Showcase TP List.
