2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Jason Luther is a lean 2005 middle infielder from Round Rock, TX, who is still maturing physically. He showed very good baseball skills during the showcase and plays well above his tools. His actions in the infield are smooth and he showed some good quickness with his hands and made all the plays. Luther has a very short, compact swing and did a nice job getting the bat head to the ball on high velocity pitches and even turning on the ball. He had a couple of hard game hits and centered the ball very well consistently. Luther pitched an inning and threw from a true Chad Bradford way underneath release point, which you don’t see very often and probably freaks out high school hitters. He's a smooth but not over powering athlete. He runs well and plays even faster. Jason is an excellent student.
