Jeff Lombard: Lombard is a senior right hander from Virginia with an excellent 6-foot-4 pro pitcher’s body. He throws from a very methodical, in-line delivery from a standard ¾’s release point. Lombard’s best pitch was a 71-73 mph curveball that had tight spin and a sharp break to it. The solid velocity that he got on his breaking ball didn’t translate well to his fastball, though, as Lombard only topped out at 82 mph. He spotted the ball well down in the strike zone with his fastball. It’s hard to believe that a 6-4 pitcher with a clean arm action and projectable body and a hard curveball isn’t going to increase that velocity in the future. Keep a close eye on him. He's going to throw much harder than 82. Jeff is an outstanding student.
