McVey is a very strong 5-10 junior first baseman from Florida. He has very good strength in his hands and arms. McVey is a very aggressive hitter who is looking to attack fastballs early in the count. He has a quick bat to the ball and generates very good bat speed. McVey jumped on one high and inside fastball and almost drove it out of the park. He tends to come up and open during his swing so this is probably right where he likes the ball. McVey showed us he could swing wood and he probably does plenty of damage with metal in his hands. Defensively, McVey showed soft hands at first base and good footwork around the bag. He isn’t a very fast runner, which limits his range and mobility on the bases. McVey is also a good student.
