Andrew Zellmann is a 2008 C with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame from Shakopee, MN who attends Shakopee HS. He has a good athletic frame with some present strength. Zellman showed good quickness behind the plate and was able to stay compact and get his throws off quickly. He threw 70 mph in drills with a best pop time of 2.06. He tends to step sideways on his throws instead of towards second base and needs to work on his footwork in general. Zellman hits with low, tight hands from a tall stance. He tends to lean back in his swing and swing around the ball. He has the strength in his hands and arms to create some bat speed and the ball comes off his bat pretty well when he can get an inside fastball to handle. He has a line drive swing plane. Zellman is a hustling, all out type of player and won't be outworked. He should continue to improve as his fundamentals move forward. He is also a very good student.

Andrew Zellmann is a 2008 C/P/3B with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from Shakopee MN, who attends Shakopee HS. He has a medium frame and has continued to get stronger over the past year. Zellman receives the ball well behind the plate and has soft hands. His arm strength is below average but he has a quick release from a low arm slot and makes accurate throws to second base. Offensively, Zellman hits with his weight forward and has a short, line drive swing. He stays short and hits down and through the ball. He'll hit a lot of line drives up the middle with this approach and if he learns to stay back on the ball a bit and keep his weight back, could have the strength to add some gap power. Zellman is a hard worker on the field with a good approach to the game. He is a very good student.

On the mound he throws consistent strikes and hides the ball well. His fastball has arm side run at 73 mph and he has a solid 10-4 curveball at 61 mph. Andrew is an excellent student.

Andrew Zellmann is a 2008 C/P/IF with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from Shakopee, Minnesota, who attends Shakopee High School. There is present strength in his body and he is stronger than most 2008 players. He has shown good improvement in his overall game. At the plate he has a line drive swing plane with the ability to hit to all fields. There is strength in his swing that should allow him to drive the ball in the gaps with regularity. Zellmann makes consistent contact with solid bat speed through the hitting zone. He stays balanced through his swing, and gets good extension and follow through. On the mound he has a slow and controlled delivery with a short arm circle on the back side. His fastball topped out at 75 mph with cutting action in on right handed hitters. He has projectable velocity as well. Behind the plate he has good hands with a good set-up. Zellmann is an excellent student as well.

Andrew Zellman is a 2008 catcher/right handed pitcher from Shakopee, Minnesota, with a 5'11", 150 lb. frame. Zellman has solid arm strength behind the plate with good pop times. He could improve his pop times with quicker feet on his throws to second base. He showed better balance at the plate with a wider and slightly crouched stance. Zellman drops his hands which causes him to have a lift in his swing and get under pitches. He has strength in his swing, he just needs to improve his bat path to the ball. On the mound, he threw from a 3/4 arm slot with good arm action. His fastball topped out at 72 mph, and his curveball was 53 mph. Zellman has a good body and the arm strength to be a solid catcher. However, he did make a great play to his left at second base. Zellman plays hard, and he is an outstanding student.

Andrew Zellman is a young 2008 catcher/pitcher from Minnesota with a slender, projectable frame at 5'11", 150 lbs. He widened his stance during the event, and looked more balanced and got more leverage in his swing. Zellman has solid bat speed, and a line drive swing plane. He drifts forward slightly to contact, especially on off speed pitches, but showed good hand eye coordination. Zellman needs to make a few minor adjustments to his swing mechanics, but the ability is there. Zellman also pitched at the Showcase, but to truly evaluate him as a pitcher wouldn’t be fair. He’d probably caught about 15 bullpens and live pitchers over the past 24 hours and had to have been arm weary. Zellman threw his fastball in the 67-69 mph range but was around every pitch in front at release and was actually throwing a cutter/slider with occasional sharp break on every pitch he thought was a fastball. He also threw a 55 mph curveball. Zellman is an outstanding student with a great attitude for the game.
