2004 Underclass National Showcase
Angelo Ponte -- Ponte is a broad shouldered, strong 5-11 catcher who impressed us with his bat. He has good quickness to his swing and made consistent hard contact against good live pitching. Ponte was shorter and quicker in games than in batting practice and even showed a little bit of loft in his swing. Ponte’s hands and feet were very playable behind the plate and his pop times were respectable. He should work hard to increase arm strength and he will have a very good package for the next level. His bat plays large and will get him to a high level. Angelo is a good student.
