2004 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Anthony is a 2005 grad from Canyon High School in Northridge California with a lean lively body that has a lot of room for added strength in the future. He shows a very good feel for the mound, moves the ball in and out well. He has the ability to keep hitters off balance. Anthony missed a lot of bats at the Top Prospect Showcase and did so by hitting his spots and mixing in all of his pitches. His velocity was short of where we've seen it in the past at 83 mph but Anthony is not a radar gun guy, he's an "outs" guy. We've seen him at 85 mph and that's plenty quick for his pitching style. Anthony's 71 mph curveball and 72 mph change up are quality pitches. He is the type of pitcher who will likely fly under the pro radar for now but will be a definite priority "performance" pitcher for college coaches. With plenty of room to add strength, who knows about down the road. Anthony is a good student.
