2006 Sunshine West Showcase
Matt Hubbard is a 2007 MIF/3B with a 6'0'', 172 lb. frame from San Diego, CA, who attends Santa Fe Christian HS. Hubbard has a large and lean frame with projection. Defensively he has nice footwork with good hands. During the showcase games he made some nice plays showing range, especially to his right. He moves around well, and makes a nice pivot on the double play. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an open stance with a slight crouch. He is a patient hitter, but is very aggressive with pitches in his zone. He has a short swing and stays inside the ball well with bat speed. He hit some bullets during the games centering the ball well. Hubbard has speed with nice instincts on the bases as well, and stole multiple bases during game action. He is a fun player to watch and has good upside. He is also an excellent student.
