Matt Skelly is a 2008 OF with a 6'4'', 175 lb. frame from Phoenix, Arizona, who attends St. Mary's High School. Skelly has a nice frame that is lean and projectable. Defensively he has solid arm strength from the outfield with throws that are 79 mph. His throws are also accurate to the bag. He moves well in the outfield, and he has a nice release. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from an upright and slightly open stance. Skelly has a narrow base and he uses a short stride to keep him balanced. He has bat speed through the zone and he gets leverage at the point of contact showing projectable power. Skelly has adjustability with his hands in his swing, and he gets good extension out front. Once on the bases, he runs well showing instincts and the ability to take the extra base. Skelly is an excellent student as well.
