2004 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Mike is a 2005 grad from Walnut High School in Southern California. He stands 5'9" 165 lbs with a good frame and well muscled build. He has a compact body with some present strength and some room for adding even more strength. Mike is an aggressive player who was especially good on the second day of the showcase when he was more relaxed and comfortable. He made one particularily good defensive sliding play in the hole, popping up and throwing the runner out at first. Mike's strength helps him with the bat. He shows the ability to handle the bat head like a top of the order hitter. Maybe the most important thing for Mike to improve on to catch college coach's interest is improving his overall speed and quickness. He's a good student and he can play.
