2004 Underclass National Showcase
Raphael Turner -- Turner is a junior outfielder from Washington D.C. who opened our eyes with some of the quickest and strongest wrists we saw of any left handed hitter at the showcase. He has a very patient approach at the plate and can lull you to sleep a bit, but when he attacks the ball, Turner shows more bat speed and power than you’d expect from a 5-10, 175 lb junior. In fact, Turner has a bit of confidence and swagger at the plate that you don’t usually find in showcase environments. Turner’s peripheral tools are solid, too. He’s a 7.25 runner on the slow turf in the 60 with a playable outfield arm. Keep an eye on this young hitter/athlete. Raphael is a good student.
