Reid Maclean is a 2006 right handed pitcher/infielder from Vermont Academy in Waterbury Center, VT, with a 6'3", 185 lb. frame. He has a good pitcher's body with broad shoulders and room to grow. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a slight pause in his delivery. His fastball topped out at 80 mph with some arm side life, and he pitched at 78-80. Maclean throws two kinds of breaking balls. He has a slower curveball with some depth, but his best pitch is a tight slider at 75 mph. Maclean threw several good sliders and it is his out pitch. Offensively he is a left handed hitter with a quiet approach at the plate. He keeps his hands close to his body, but shows good bat speed with present power and good extension. He gets long at times, but has the ability to hit for average and power at the next level. Maclean has two-way talent with upside.
