2003 Spring Showcase
At 5 foot 10, Berte is a good all around ball player. We have seen him play a few times before and except for his 60 time, he showed consistent ability. He reacted well to the ball in the outfield, hit in the games and makes good decisions. His outfield arm showed 81 mph velocity and his arm works good. At the plate he dropped his back side but did manage to get a square hitting surface on the ball and drove a few good ones. In fact, he hit 2 or 3 balls deep. He stumbled in the 60 and never ran it a second time but we noticed the speed he used in the outfield and it is one of his better tools. He has Ivy League credentials and baseball ability that might attract some of them.
