Tall slender build. 6.42 runner, outstanding defensive actions, very quick feet, plus range at second base, quick release, very soft and sure hands, arm short from shortstop but playable at 2B with release, plays defense with flair and a nose for the spectacular play. Left handed hitter, spread stance, good bat speed with some lift, ball jumps, will surprise with his power, hits with hands away from body, hard pull contact, quick hands. Has a very high baseball IQ and plus instincts. Good student, verbal commitment to UCLA.

Gosuke Katoh is a 2013 2B/SS with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Poway, CA who attends Rancho Bernardo. Katoh has a medium sized frame with a lean athletic build. He has pro actions at 2B with very quick transfers and excellent feet. He has good hands with a quick release and developing arm strength. Katoh has a balanced swing at the plate with excellent bat speed. The barrel flies through the zone and the ball jumps off his bat. He squares everything up and will hit at the next level. Katoh has easy bat speed and has an aggressive approach at the plate. He's also a plus runner and plays fast in all aspects of the game. He showed impact tools and skills in all aspects of the game. Excellent student.

Very good runner, 6.69 at an earlier showcase, shows his speed/quickness on defense, nice range, second base skills, very quick release, fancy glovework with some flair for the game, could improve throwing footwork. Left handed hitter, crouched stance, quick hands, throws his hips early, battles, had one 11 pitch at bat with 6 foul balls, can handle the barrel, has enough strength to drive the gaps. Hustling player who has fun on the field. Good student.
