Jan Alexis Hernandez is a 2013 SS with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from San Lorenzo, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Large and loose athletic build, very strong. Outstanding defensive tools and actions, moves fluidly through the ball, light on his feet, plays fast and easy, big time arm strength, may outgrow shortstop in the future. Didn't run at this event but 6.64 in the 60 in December, very aggressive and disruptive baserunner with plus instincts. Right handed hitter, calm swing approach with leg lift trigger, moves into contact, big bat speed with plus power potential, tends to try to lift/top spin the ball, best approach is with level swing plane, has the strength/bat speed to drive the ball out of the park without lifting it. High ceiling talent with tools and actions. Good student.

Jan Alexis Hernandez is a 2013 SS with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from San Lorenzo, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Big league look physically, strong, well proportioned and loose. 6.64 runner, top of the scale raw arm strength, ball leaves his hand easily, has the athleticism to stay at shortstop, charges and moves very well, has some flair to his game. Right handed hitter, huge bat speed, ball sounds different coming off, good path to the ball, had some uppercut this event and top spun most balls, best swings are against best velocity, has trouble keeping mid-80's fair with his aggressiveness and bat speed. Has fun playing the game. Potential first round draft pick. Good student.

Right handed hitter, outstanding raw bat speed, whips the barrel with loose quick hands, big leverage at contact, big power potential, gets ball into the air, pull approach, can improve balance in the box with calmer lower half, high ceiling hitter. 6.81 runner, easy athletic defensive movements, hands very smooth, stays balanced, lots of arm strength, has feel for playing defense, might out grow shortstop but can play it now. Will garner comparisons to fellow Puerto Rican Carlos Correa, not completely unfair either.

Jan A Hernandez is a 2013 3B with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from San Lorenzo, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Academy. Excellent athletic build, long and lean with plus projection. Very sound hitting mechanics, smooth right handed swing, quick hands with some whip out front, drives through contact well, ball jumps, aggressive approach with present bat speed, high ceiling hitter. Light on his feet defensively, easy actions, very good arm strength with accurate, on line throws, shows athleticism. Did not run because of hip muscle injury, might be better than observed. Top level national prospect, will be fun to see how he develops before the 2013 draft.
