Ryan Mitchell is a real big 6'5/230 RHP from Magnolia, TX. Mitchell lost 15 or so pounds this spring and is looking great physically. He threw in the 89-91 mph range with a short, quick arm stroke and we look for him to throw harder later in the summer. We've been following him for a long time and we've seen him in the 94 range before. He spins a real good CB, he calls it a slider, that drops quickly. His arm action is kind of like Roger Clemens, short backside and he hides the ball well. He's been on the map a long time and everyone knows about him. It's going to be interesting to watch him right up until the draft next June. Ryan is a good student. He was selected to the AFLAC All American Team.
