Max Knutson is a 2013 LHP/OF with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Arden Hills, MN who attends Mounds View HS. Very athletic build with lots of present strength. Slow paced leg raise delivery, good coil, has made significant delivery improvements since last summer, clean full arm action, 3/4's release point, arm is fast and loose. Tends to drift to plate from wind up and get ahead of arm, best velocity is from the stretch. Fastball to 92 mph, velocity comes easily, still touching 92 in 3rd inning from stretch, fastball mostly straight with occasional run, very effective when down in the zone. Primary fastball pitcher, off speed pitches still developing, tends to slow arm and body and shorten arm arch on curveball and change up. Also showed big time arm strength and athletic actions in the outfield, has run 6.54 in the past. Left handed hitter, short swing for his size, line drive plane, has some bat speed, swung bat well in games. Developing off speed pitches will be key for him. High ceiling physical talent.
