Joseph Hietpas is a 2014 RHP/IF with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Fairfield, IA who attends Fairfield HS. Medium athletic frame with a square shouldered build. Easy paced delivery with low effort. Heavy FB with sink when it was down in the zone. FB topped out at 83 and flashed hard tail, High ¾ arm slot with some ability to throw downhill, CB had occasional depth with SL shape, breaking ball was effective. Direction to the plate still leaves room for improvement. Excellent student.

Joseph Hietpas is a 2014 RHP/IF with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Fairfield, IA who attends Fairfield HS. Medium athletic build with good lower half strength. Calm evenly paced delivery, high 3/4's to over the top arm slot, opens early and lands open, falls off on release, low effort arm action. Low 80's fastball, topped at 82 mph, mostly straight, consistent velocity. Primary fastball pitcher, flashes some sharpness to a rare slider, developing change up. Don't feel we saw an accurate occasion to evaluate, struggled to locate fastball due to consistently poor direction to the plate, missed glove side consistently. Will likely see more of in the Spring League. Follow for delivery improvements. Outstanding student.

Calm slow paced delivery, high 3/4's release point, some downhill angle, tends to fall off and recoil out front. Fastball to 78 mph, mostly straight, maintained velocity well from stretch. Slows arm on curveball, some 11/5 depth, misses glove side frequently. Developing change up. Will improve with more consistent release and delivery. Right handed hitter, stays balanced well, short rotational swing, keeps hands inside the ball, moves through contact, line drive swing plane. Excellent student.
