Nicholas Butts is a 2015 RHP/MIF with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Chesterfield, VA who attends Manchester HS. Short compact build with some present strength. Very versatile player. Leg raise delivery on the mound with good back turn, full clean arm circle, high 3/4's arm slot. Mid-80's fastball, mostly straight, showed good feel for varying speed and depth to a breaking ball between 71 and 74 mph, nice change up as well, works quickly and pounds the strike zone. Might be better long-term infield prospect, 7.08 runner, quick feet and plenty of athleticism in the middle of the infield, quick exchange and release with arm strength, has actions and balance. Right handed hitter, spread stance with high hand start, good shift into contact and stays balanced, good plate coverage, consistent line drive contact, best pulling. Good student, verbal commitment to William and Mary.
