Sean Rollins is a 6'4/205 2005 RHP from Rowlett, TX. Rollins is an interesting story. His summer coach says that he was topping out at 88-89 mph a year ago, but suffered a shoulder injury that was rehabbed without surgery. He was only up to 78 mph at the beginning of the summer, but has gained some of his velocity back in the past two months. Rollins topped out at 84 mph on his fastball in Waco. He has a long, full arm circle and you can see some stiffness in his shoulder. What you also see with Rollins is one of the nastiest curveballs around. He throws it consistently at 75 mph and it’s not a slider or slurve, it’s a true curveball that he comes over the top of and through. It’s sharp and late and hitters had no chance whatsoever to make contact. Once Rollins got in a rhythm with it, you could almost see the hitters give up over the futility of trying to make contact. We hope that Rollins is getting good medical care and advice because if he’s healthy he’s at worst a potentially dominant college pitcher with his curveball. His body and a 90 mph FB would make him a good draft pick. He needs to be followed closely. Sean is a good student.
