Charles (Chip) Mattiford is a 2014 RHP/1B with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Pope HS. Long and slender build, lots of room to fill out, long legged look. Short compact arm action, 3/4's arm slot, low elbow release, busy lower half complicates delivery mechanics. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, mostly straight, tends to work to the middle of the plate. Primary fastball pitcher, did not throw a breaking ball, rare change up. Right handed hitter, low hand start, rotational swing with limited lower half use, line drive swing plane. Good student.
