Has a long arm action in the outfield, good arm strength, arm works, good throws, loose arm, accurate, fields through the ball, good feet, good actions. Slightly open wide base at the plate, good approach, shows bat speed, has pop in his bat, stays inside the ball well, gets leverage in his swing, squares the ball up. Has good speed on bases, is an interesting prospect to follow, and is an excellent student.

Zach Patterson is a 2013 OF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from West Burlington, IA who attends Burlington HS. Medium athletic build, wiry present strength. Opposite field oriented approach, good plate coverage, solid swing plane, lets the ball travel. Gets some leverage, head drift prevents consistent contact, doesn't always get weight transferred through the ball, hitting tools to project with tweaks to swing mechanics. Long arm action, big windup, doesn't get much use of his strong lower half in throwing motion, accurate throws, moves well defensively. Good student.
