Well paced delivery, maintains balance and direction well, 3/4's release point, arm works well, repeats mechanics well for his age. Fastball to 83 mph, good left arm side running action, gets same sort of consistent quality action on a 69 mph change up. Good tilt to curveball with tight spin and some sharpness. Pounds the strike zone with three pitches and has advanced pitchability. Should continue to develop and be able to get hitters out at the next level. Very good student.

Nate Schweers is a 2014 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny HS. Strong athletic build, especially in the lower half. Compact arm action, tight 3/4's release point, hides the ball well, could extend better out front, cross body on release. Upper 70's fastball, topped out at 80 mph,mostly straight, commands fastball well and keeps it down in the zone. Tends to slow arm on off speed but has some feel and command, change up has sink, curveball has big 1/7 depth at times, both will improve with adjustments. Throws strikes and competes hard, gets outs. Left handed hitter, long rotational swing, tends to fly open early, has some raw bat speed, mid field contact. Good student.

Nate Schweers is a 2014 LHP/1B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny HS. Lanky athletic build, square shoulders, good physical projection. Back turn rotational delivery, pulls lead arm off early, no front side to leverage against, high 3/4's arm slot, throws downhill, loose arm. Steady upper 70's fastball, topped at 81 mph, good fade and run at times, soft curveball spin at 63 mph, tends to slow arm at release, rare change up, around the plate with all pitches. Will gain velocity with added strength and mechanical adjustments. Showed good athleticism at first on defense. Left handed hitter, long easy swing, will flash bat speed, gets to front side early, some uppercut, hits gap to gap. Very good student.
