Jay Hrdlicka is a 2014 C/2B with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from West Des Moines, IA who attends Valley HS. Medium body, shows some strength and athleticism. Good receiving skills, sets up a nice low target, good transfer and release. Arm action stays short, flashes some arm strength. Well balanced and has good lateral movement. Left-handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance. Good bat speed, solid extension, impressive approach against live pitching, can inside out pitches to the opposite field. Well schooled hitter with high offensive upside. Excellent student.

Defensively, he has a short arm action and solid transfers on his pops. He gains some ground and has some catch and throw tools with developing arm strength. At the plate, Hrdlicka uses a no load approach and uses a toe tap trigger to start his swing. He maintains balance through his swing and has a line drive middle of the field approach. He has some bat speed and made solid contact in batting practice. Excellent student.
