Jake Lewis is a 2013 LHP with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Grimes, IA who attends Dallas Center-Grimes Community HS. Nice athletic build with loose actions and good projectability. Busy delivery with an exaggerated over the top release point, cross body landing, deep arm action with a stab in back, gets downhill well. Fastballs are actually all cutters/sliders at 80-81 mph, very consistent spin and lane changing action due to release point, some were nasty, does not throw a ball straight. Change up and slider are interchangable and probably the same pitch as the fastball, only at lower velocity. Soft curveball spin with short break, better curveballs from the stretch than from the wind up. Unique package/stuff based on this outing, "fastball" will get lots of outs as de facto cutter/slider, will be really nasty if he fills out and is throwing mid 80's with the same life. Very good student.
