2006 California Underclass
Tyler Brubaker is a 2008 OF/1B from Saugus HS, residing in Valencia, CA, with a 6'0" 190 lb. frame. Brubaker was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase. Has a physical, powerful build with some athleticism. Offensively he is clearly strong with the bat. With strong shoulders and a strong lower half his swing has power and life. Brubaker is one young player with legitimate HR power potential to all fields. He is aggressive with his swing and has good bat speed. He works to lift the ball with a bit of an uppercut that likely will have to flatten out a bit to hit for higher average, but his path to the ball is pretty short. There is life in that swing and in his hands. Brubaker looks like he will be an RBI type guy. Defensively he showd a decent approach. The ball came out of his hand decently, enough to suggest that he will be fine in LF and be an average defender. He is a certain '08 prospect for many if not most West Coast D1 programs and eventually the pro game.
