Tyler Minto is a 2006 RHP/SS from Baker High School in Mobile, Alabama, with a 6'0'', 172 lb. frame. He is a lean and athletic two-way player. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short arm circle on the back side. Minto has a quick and loose arm with fluid arm action. His fastball topped out at 84 mph with good running action in on the hands of right handed hitters. He also mixes in a very sharp and hard breaking ball at 76 mph. Minto has good command of both pitches, and is projectable on the mound. Defensively he has solid arm strength with good actions at shortstop. At the plate he hits from the right side and shows good bat speed. Minto stays balanced during his swing with leverage at contact. The ball jumps when it is centered. He is a line drive hitter who likes to pull the ball. Minto plays hard and is a good two-way player. He is also a good student.
