2004 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Tyler Short is a 5'10", 170 lb. catcher from St. Louis, Missouri. Tyler showed good accuracy on his throws with nice transfers, quickness, and technique. He had a pop range from 2.09-2.23 with a top velocity of 73 mph. With more work on his footwork, we feel Tyler will continue to lower his pop times. He starts from a pronounced "side saddle" stance which he will not be able to do in games. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a narrow stance and good balance. He tends to swing around the ball a bit with a short bat path and above average bat speed. Tyler ran well for a catcher with 7.32 sixty speed and is very strong academically.
