Wilfredo Cortes is a 2005 middle infielder/third baseman from Bayamon PR. He has a lean build at 6 ft. 0 160 pounds. He is a switch hitter with potential from both sides. LH: He has a nice stride and flow with a slight wrap. He showed a good line drive swing with limited power potential. RH: He has little or no stride with a short stroke. He shows good hand strength and has a contact approach. Defensively, he has soft hands and a smooth transfer with good actions. He showed very good arm strength at 84 mph across the infield with accurate throws. He has good range to both sides with decent footwork, and he can make tough plays look easy. He ran a 7.00 in the 60, with a 4.40 home to first. He has good defensive skills that project well at the next level and his bat will improve with added strength. Wilfredo is a good student.
