Matthew Bates is a 2015 MIF/RHP with a 5-7 125 lb. frame from Lynchburg, VA who attends Liberty Christian Academy. Lean, athletic build with lots of room to add strength as good matures. Showed quick feet on the infield, able to get to balls to both sides. Arm is accurate with good release and more to come as he gains strength. Right handed hitter with a line drive swing at the plate. Short and compact in stance, short swing with a middle of the field to opposite field approach. As a pitcher, aggressive on mound, attacks with fastball. Consistent fastball velocity, pitch showed arm side run. Short breaking curveball with cut action.
