He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. Strellner has a smooth delivery and repeats his delivery well. He gets good armside run on his fastball and good sink and run on his change-up. Strellner also throws a 2/8 sweeping slider for strikes. At the plate, Strellner starts from a square stance and gets the barrell to the ball.

Ben Strellner is a 2009 LHP/1B/OF with a 5'9'', 145 lb. frame from Marion, IA, who attends Linn-Mar High School. Strellner is a very young player with a lean and athletic frame that is very projectable. On the mound he throws from a mid 3/4 arm slot with a loose and whippy arm action. Strellner gets running life on his fastball that topped out at 76 mph, while pitching at 73-75. With his loose and easy arm and projectable body, it is easy to see him throwing much harder in the future. Strellner is not afraid of contact, and he mixes in three pitches. His curve ball is inconsistent at 64 mph, but he shows the ability to spin the ball. He is a young left handed pitcher with good upside. Strength and velocity gains will come. Good student as well.

He gets sink on his fastball that topped out at 70 mph, and it also has some tailing action at times. Strellner throws a slow curveball with a 2 to 7 break at 60 mph. He also throws a solid changeup with good arm speed at 64 mph. Strellner shows good pitchability, and is very deceptive with good control. He changes speeds, and has a good feel for pitching. He has a short and compact swing with a line drive swing plane from the right side. He also showed solid arm speed from the outfield with good defensive actions. Strellner has the tools and advanced feel for pitching that makes him a solid left handed pitching prospect. He is a solid follow.
