Louis Pazo is a 2007 C with a 5'10'', 185 lb. frame from Key West FL, who attends Key West HS. He has a compact build and very good present strength. Pazo ran the 60 in 7.45 and threw 67 mph during catching drills with a best pop time of 2.08. He has nice athletic quickness defensively and has an aggressive approach to blocking balls. Pazo has some mechanical issues that keep him from throwing up to his potential; he throws with a stiff front leg and recoils severely on his release instead of moving through the ball on his throws. Offensively, Pazo has a very short, contact oriented swing. He hits consistent line drives to right field and stays inside the ball on virtually every pitch. He's a situational contact hitter right now and could open up his offensive game a bit more by learning to square up on some balls and use the pull side of the field. Pazo is also a solid student.
