Steven Simpson is a 2006 RHP/IF with a 6'3'', 181 lb. frame from Jasper, Alabama, who attends Carbon Hill High School. He is a tall and lean player with a projectable body. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a slight arm wrap during his delivery. Simpson has solid arm speed and the ball comes out of his hand cleanly. His fastball topped out a t 81 mph, but the ball appears to jump on the hitter. His delivery is very deceptive and he hides the ball well from the hitter. Simpson has solid secondary pitches including a 67 mph breaking ball and a 72 mph changeup. He has projectable velocity, and has upside on the mound. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an open stance. Simpson is a contact hitter with a rotational swing. He has good hand strength with projectable power.
