Luis Alvarado is a 2014 SS/OF with a 6-5 185 lb. frame from Salinas, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy/HS. Very tall, slender build, has some wiry strength, loose athletic action. 6.82 runner, moves well to the ball in the outfield, very sound footwork with plus raw arm strength, on line accurate throws. Good hands in the infield, smooth actions, big arm strength, hard to envision at shortstop in the future at his size but the tools play at almost any position. Right handed hitter, simple swing approach, stays short to the ball for his height with a line drive swing plane, good balance with some hand quickness moving into the ball, good bat path, projects offensively. Did not pitch this event but has been up to 90 mph frequently in the past. Good student.
