Zach Lucas is a 2007 MIF from Glynn Academy in St Simons Island, GA, with a 5'9'', 160 lb. frame and good overall body life. He ran the 60 in 7.36 and threw 76 mph during infield drills. Lucas has second base actions, with very good lower body quickness, quick transfers and nice agility around the bag. He'll need to shorten up his arm stroke some but he has some arm strength for the position. Offensively, Lucas has a busy set up with a big hand hitch to get the bat going. Lucas shows quick hands at the plate but his hands often aren't in position to get the bat going the way he wants to. Once the bat gets going, Lucas had a short, compact swing with good bat speed for his age and size. He's a line drive hitter who will hit to all fields. Lucas likes to bunt and has a lead off hitter's approach at the plate. He's a high energy player who hustles and likes to use his quickness on the field. Lucas is also a good student.
