2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Walter Myers is a 2006 SS/OF with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame from Prattville, AL, who attends Prattville HS. He is a lean and athletic player with good speed and quickness on the bases and defensively. Myers has a strong arm across the infield at 84 mph and showed good accuracy as well. He has soft hands fielding and the ball disappears in his glove. Myers has nice footwork getting in position to make all the plays, and he showed range, especially to his glove side. He has very good defensive actions with natural instincts. At the plate he is a switch hitter with a similar approach from both side. He has a quick bat with a line drive swing plane, and he will drive the ball from gap to gap with regularity. Myers has the type of swing and body type that will allow him to hit with more power in the future. He is a good looking prospect, and is a very good student as well.
