John "Jack" Haller is a 2014 C/RHP with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Urbandale, IA who attends Urbandale HS. Large frame, looks strong and athletic. Shows decent hands behind the plate, arm action is quick. Needs to improve his footwork, throws are consistent and accurate. Flashes arm strength, still developing at this point. Right-handed hitter, uses a leg kick load, uppercut swing path, front side opens too early. Wide, strong base and stays balance, generates some good bat speed, pull side type hitter, timing needs improvement, solid upside. Also pitches, up to 81 mph with his fastball. 65 mph curveball needs tightening. Pitches from a three-quarter arm slot, works quickly and hides the ball well. Very good student.
