Derek Dorau is a 2014 RHP with a 6-6 240 lb. frame from Hugo, MN who attends White Bear Lake HS. Extra, Extra large build, very strong look. Tall and fall delivery with some drift, compact arm action, tight high 3/4's arm slot, limited lower half use, tends to lose leverage out front and throw up hill. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, mostly straight, tends to miss up in zone with fastball. Soft curveball with rolling break, threw one with harder slider spin and shape that was promising, rare change up. Around the zone with all pitches. Left handed hitter, long rotational swing, commits early and gets the barrel out in the zone, flashes some strength on contact, upper cut swing plane. Good student.
