Ben Erickson is a 2014 RHP with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from Urbandale, IA who attends Dowling Catholic HS. Solid athletic build, good present strength. Back turn delivery, keeps hands tight, 3/4's arm slot, some cross body on release. Upper 70's fastball, topped out at 82 mph early, pretty straight with occasional cutting action. Curveball best pitch, consistent hard spin and sharp biting action, uses curveball as strikeout pitch with many swing/miss. Developing change up, tends to change arm action at present. Curveball should be very effective against high school hitters. Good student.

Ben Erickson is a 2014 RHP with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from Urbandale, IA who attends Dowling Catholic HS. Broad shouldered strong build, mature look. Complex delivery, big hand and leg raise, leans head back off line, pronates shoulders, 3/4's arm slot, hard delivery to repeat effectively, shows much better command from the stretch. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, cuts fastball frequently and works down in the zone, slurve type breaking ball shows good spin at times with some bite and depth, straight change up shows promise. Has some pitchability and tries to mix it up. Simplifying delivery to develop better command/consistency is the next step. Good student.
