Tim Black is a 2007 3B/IF/OF/C from Hickory High School in Chesapeake, VA, with a 5'8'', 160 lb. frame. Black participated in the showcase with an injured leg that had an affect on his sixty time, as well as other parts of his game. Defensively he has good hands with solid arm strength across the infield and good accuracy. Despite the injury, he still showed good range to both sides, and has a nice backhand. At the plate he is a left hitter with a quiet approach and a balanced swing. Black has a good swing plane with good bat speed, and he has nice hitting mechanics. He makes consistently solid contact to the pull side and shows nice power to the right center field gap. Black has present strength in his body and we look forward to seeing him again when he is at full strength. He is also a good student.
