Derek Wells is a 2016 RHP with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Flower Mound, TX who attends Flower Mound HS. Tall, strong athletic build. Works from the stretch, long extended arm action with a high 3/4's release, cross body release, has some deception and gets some plane and angle to the plate. Low 80's fastball, topped out at 84 mph, mostly straight, works quickly and throws strikes, makes hitters swing the bat. Fair curveball spin with occasional depth. Has some projection as he gets stronger. Good student.
